International No Diet Day (INDD) was created by Mary Evans Young, a British feminist and body acceptance activist, in 1992. Young struggled with body image issues and an eating disorder, which inspired her to start the Diet Breakers group and later establish INDD.

The day is celebrated annually on May 6th, with the goal of promoting body acceptance, diversity, and self-esteem, as well as raising awareness about the potential dangers of dieting and the diet industry.
