National Day of Catalonia: This day is celebrated in Catalonia, Spain, to commemorate the fall of Barcelona during the War of the Spanish Succession in 1714. It is a public holiday in Catalonia.

Patriot Day (United States): This day is observed in the United States to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks in 2001, which killed nearly 3,000 people.

2001: The September 11 attacks occurred in the United States, when four planes were hijacked by terrorists from the group al-Qaeda. Two of the planes were flown into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, one was flown into the Pentagon in Virginia, and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. The attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people and had far-reaching political and social implications both in the United States and around the world.
