National Pepperoni Pizza Day: This day celebrates one of the most popular varieties of pizza, the pepperoni pizza. It is a pizza topped with tomato sauce, cheese, and slices of pepperoni sausage.

World Alzheimer’s Day: This day is observed to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease, its causes, symptoms, and treatments. The day also aims to reduce the stigma surrounding the disease and to support those affected by it.


451: The Battle of Chalons took place between a coalition of Roman, Germanic, and Gallic forces and the invading Huns led by Attila. The coalition emerged victorious, but the battle was one of the bloodiest of the ancient world.

1066: The Battle of Fulford, the first of three battles in the Norman Conquest of England, was fought between Norwegian invaders led by Harald Hardrada and the English army of King Harold Godwinson. The Norwegians won the battle but were defeated a few days later at the Battle of Stamford Bridge.

1519: Ferdinand Magellan’s expedition to circumnavigate the globe began with the departure of five ships from Spain. The voyage was completed by one of the ships, the Victoria, three years later.

2001: The Taliban regime in Afghanistan was overthrown by a coalition of forces led by the United States in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks.
