World Elephant Day was established on August 12, 2012, by Canadian filmmaker Patricia Sims and the Elephant Reintroduction Foundation of Thailand, an organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of wild elephants.
The day was created to raise awareness about the urgent need to protect elephants from habitat loss, poaching, and other threats, as well as to celebrate these majestic animals and their significant ecological, cultural, and economic importance.
World Elephant Day is observed annually on August 12 to bring attention to the plight of elephants and to promote their conservation. The day focuses on several key aspects:
Conservation: Supporting efforts to conserve and protect elephants and their habitats, including the establishment and management of protected areas, corridors, and other crucial habitats.
Anti-poaching and anti-trafficking: Raising awareness about the illegal ivory trade and other forms of wildlife trafficking, and promoting efforts to combat poaching and trafficking through law enforcement, international cooperation, and demand reduction strategies.
Human-elephant coexistence: Encouraging the development of strategies and solutions to mitigate human-elephant conflict and promote peaceful coexistence between people and elephants, such as sustainable land-use planning, crop protection, and community-based conservation initiatives.
Education and awareness: Educating the public about the ecological importance of elephants, their cultural significance, and the challenges they face, in order to foster a greater appreciation and support for their conservation.
On World Elephant Day, various events, campaigns, and activities are organized worldwide to raise awareness about the plight of elephants and the need for their conservation.
These activities may include educational programs, social media campaigns, film screenings, and fundraising events, often with the support of conservation organizations, zoos, and wildlife reserves.
The day serves as a reminder of the importance of elephants to ecosystems, cultures, and economies, and of our shared responsibility to protect these iconic species for future generations.
Hidden Object Games
Join us in honoring these gentle giants on World Elephant Day with our exciting Hidden Object Game! Wander through beautifully illustrated landscapes, from dense jungles to vast savannas, as you search for hidden objects related to elephants and their natural habitats.
In this game, your mission is to find objects that represent the life of an elephant, including their favorite foods like grasses, bark, and fruits, as well as symbolic items such as tusks, footprints, and elephant-shaped carvings.
As you play, you’ll learn about the importance of elephants in maintaining the ecological balance of their environment and the threats they face, such as poaching and habitat loss. We aim to raise awareness and inspire action to protect these magnificent creatures. Happy World Elephant Day!
