World Hello Day

World Hello Day was created by Brian McCormack and Michael McCormack, two brothers from the United States, in response to the Yom Kippur War between Israel and Egypt in 1973.

They believed that conflicts could be resolved through communication rather than force. The day was first observed on November 22, 1973, and has been celebrated annually ever since as a way to encourage people to engage in open communication and promote world peace.

World Hello Day aims to achieve the following objectives:
Promote communication: The day encourages people to engage in open and honest communication with others, as a way of fostering understanding, tolerance, and peace.

Encourage cultural exchange: World Hello Day emphasizes the importance of exchanging ideas, beliefs, and values across cultural boundaries, in order to promote greater understanding and respect between different cultures.

Foster world peace: By encouraging people to communicate and engage in dialogue, World Hello Day aims to promote peaceful coexistence and prevent conflicts arising from misunderstandings and miscommunication.

Celebrate diversity: The day is a celebration of the diversity of languages, cultures, and beliefs that make up our global community.

On World Hello Day, participants are encouraged to greet at least ten people, whether friends, family members, colleagues, or strangers, to demonstrate the importance of personal communication in preserving peace.

This simple act of saying “hello” can help break down barriers, build connections, and foster understanding between people from different backgrounds and cultures.

Various activities and events are organized globally on World Hello Day, including:
Community events: Local community groups may host gatherings, workshops, or discussions to bring people together and promote communication and understanding.

School activities: Schools may organize educational activities or special programs to teach students about the importance of communication and dialogue in fostering peace and understanding.

Social media campaigns: Individuals and organizations may use social media platforms to share greetings and messages of peace, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of communication in promoting harmony and tolerance.

World Hello Day serves as a reminder that communication is a powerful tool in fostering understanding, tolerance, and peace among people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. By promoting open dialogue and exchange, we can help build a more peaceful and inclusive world.
