May 9 - World Migratory Bird Day

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) was first celebrated in 2006, as an initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds (AEWA).

The day was created to raise awareness about the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats, as well as to highlight the ecological importance of these birds and the threats they face during migration. The event is now coordinated by the Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) Secretariats, along with Environment for the Americas (EFTA).

World Migratory Bird Day is an annual global event that focuses on the protection and conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. It is observed on the second Saturday of May in the Americas and on the second weekend of October in the rest of the world. The day encourages people to learn about migratory birds, their migration routes, and the challenges they face, including habitat loss, climate change, and human-related threats such as hunting and pollution.

Each year, World Migratory Bird Day has a specific theme to focus on a particular aspect of migratory bird conservation. Activities and events are organized around the world to celebrate the day, including:
1. Birdwatching events: Guided birdwatching walks and excursions are organized to help people learn about and appreciate migratory birds in their natural habitats.
2. Educational workshops and presentations: Schools, nature centers, and community groups may host educational workshops, presentations, or exhibitions to inform people about migratory birds, their importance, and the need for their conservation.
3. Art and photography contests: Creative contests may be organized to encourage people to express their appreciation for migratory birds through art or photography.
4. Habitat restoration projects: Volunteers may participate in habitat restoration or clean-up projects to improve the environments that migratory birds depend on during their journeys.
5. Public awareness campaigns: Social media campaigns, documentaries, and public service announcements may be used to raise awareness about the importance of migratory bird conservation and how individuals can help protect these species.

World Migratory Bird Day serves as a reminder of the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the importance of international cooperation in protecting migratory birds and their habitats. It highlights the need for conservation action to ensure the survival of these essential species for future generations.

Hidden Object Games

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with our thrilling Hidden Object Game! Every year, on the second Saturday in May, we observe this day to raise awareness about migratory birds and the need to protect their habitats.

Join us on a fascinating journey following the migratory paths of various bird species. As you navigate the game, you’ll discover beautiful landscapes, from forests and wetlands to beaches and mountains, searching for different bird species and related objects hidden in these scenes.

This game will not only entertain but also educate you about the world of birds, their migratory patterns, and the challenges they face due to habitat loss and climate change. Let’s honor our feathered friends and promote their conservation through this engaging game!
